If you have done your homework and solid self-esteem, you should be able to get to the point, make the point, and then find creative ways to repeat the point.
I would say, it doesn't really guarantee that confidence will help someone make a point. Someone needs a really good and clear idea and reasoning of what he is going to speak. Oftentimes, confidence comes after succesefully delivering a point rather than before.
